The Top World Football Club Rankings at the November International Break

The world’s best football club rankings

The Top World Football Club Rankings analyze the world’s best football clubs based on recent form and squad strength.

There’s been no movement at the top of the rankings since last summer when Manchester City finished the season with a glorious treble. There are surprise newcomers to the Top World Football Club Rankings from Spain, Germany and France.

#1 Manchester City

Manchester City is once again at the pinnacle of the top world football club rankings. Man City stands alone atop the Premier League standings and has a perfect 4-0 record in the Champions League. They are favourites to win both those competitions.

#2 Real Madrid

Real Madrid has only lost one match this season, back in September. They’ve won all four of their Champions League matches. The only team ahead of Real Madrid in La Liga is Gerona, who was beaten by Real Madrid in Gerona 3-0.

#3 Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich is unbeaten in the Bundesliga after 11 matches. Bayern have also won all four of their Champions League matches. Unfortunately, Bayern was upset out of the DFB Pokal by Saarbrukken, who play in the third tier of German football.

#4 Barcelona

Barcelona started the season strong, only losing their first match of the La Liga campaign on October 28 to Real Madrid. Barca are also on top of their Champions League group, despite losing their last match. Barcelona will need to pick up the pace in La Liga if they hope to repeat as champions.

#5 Arsenal

Arsenal is level on points with Liverpool, second in the Premier League. A victory over Manchester City in London has been the highlight of the Gunners season. Arsenal are also competing great in the Champions League, standing in first place in their group.

#6 Liverpool

Liverpool has only lost one match in the Premier League, a controversial (robbery) defeat at Tottenham. The Reds are early favourites to win the Europa League and are easily the best club in that competition. Liverpool have also reached the quarter-final stage of the EFL Cup.

#7 Paris Saint Germain

Paris Saint-Germain, to no one’s surprise, is once again in first place in France’s Ligue 1. Getting out of one of the toughest groups in Champions League history will be challenging for PSG. With 2 UCL group stage matches remaining, PSG sits hopeful in second place.

#8 Inter Milan

Inter Milan is the best team in Italy and has only lost one match this season in all competitions. Inter leads Serie A by two points over Juventus. In the Champions League Inter are level on points at the top of their group with Real Sociedad.

#9 Beyer Leverkusen

Beyer Leverkusen is perhaps the most in-form club in world football so far this season. In 17 competitive matches this campaign, Leverkusen has only one blemish, a 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich on September 15. Leverkusen are at the top of the Bundesliga table and have a 12-game winning streak in all competitions.

#10 Juventus

Juventus are on a five-game winning streak and are in second place in Italy’s Serie A. Their next match is at home against Inter Milan on November 26, the winner will take first place in Serie A. Juventus looks good enough this year to make a return to the Champions League next season.

#11 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur was in first place in the Premier League until conceding two stoppage-time goals vs Wolverhampton. That was Spurs’ second consecutive loss, which saw them drop to fourth in the Premier League. Tottenham are good enough to earn a Champions League position, however, the Premier League is better than ever.

#12 Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid are in fourth place in La Liga and remain in the hunt for the title. In the Champions League, Atletico are at the top of their group and should reach the knockout phase. Antoine Griezmann needs five more goals to become Atletico’s all-time top goal scorer.

#13 Gerona

Gerona is in spectacular form this season as the City Football Group has revolutionized this club. Sitting in first place in La Liga, Gerona looks as though they’ll be in the Champions League next season. Although they have yet to defeat any of the biggest clubs this season, Gerona is good.

#14 AC Milan

AC Milan is in third place in Serie A. Milan’s win on November 7 against PSG kept their Champions League hopes alive in the group of death. At 37 years old Olivier Giroud continues to lead the club in goals scored.

#15 Napoli

Napoli are in fourth place in Serie A, 10 points behind Inter. It’s unlikely Napoli will defend their title at this point. Napoli are playing well in the Champions League and should get through to the knockout phase.

#16 Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund, despite drawing into the group of death in the Champions League, are in first place. Winning both of their matches against Newcastle was a huge accomplishment. They’ll have to regain form in the Bundesliga, as Dortmund are in fifth place in Germany.

#17 Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad are undefeated after four matches in the Champions League and are top of their group. Their only losses this season were to powerhouses, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. Real Sociedad are in sixth place in La Liga, short of next year’s Champions League positions.

#18 Aston Villa

Aston Villa is keeping pace near the top of the Premier League table, currently in fifth place. Villa is capable of defeating big clubs with wins over Chelsea, Brighton, and West Ham this season. Aston Villa is likely the best club in the Europa Conference League and favourites to win that competition.

#19 RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig has already clinched a spot in February’s Champions League knockout phase. In the German Bundesliga, Leipzig are in fourth place. Unfortunately, Leipzig is already out of the DFB Pokal and will not retain the German Cup.

#20 Nice

Nice haven’t conceded a goal in their last seven matches, and only four all season. Their 3-2 win over PSG on September 15 was the last time they were scored on. Nice are in second place in France’s Ligue 1 and are undefeated in 12 matches so far.

Look to be in the next best 20 list of the top world football club rankings:

Chelsea FC is a lot better than their record shows, here’s an article from the analyst explaining Chelsea’s season. Since losing at home to Aston Villa, Chelsea have only lost one of their last eight matches. They’ve looked better than Manchester United and Newcastle over the last several weeks.

Biggest disappointment:

Manchester United are bottom of their Champions League group and knocked out of the EFL Cup. Man United is lucky to be sixth in the Premier League with a minus-three goal differential. The Red Devils have lost three of their last five matches in all competitions.
